Oral Treatment and prophylaxis of herpes simplex Adult: To treat symptoms: 3,000-9,000 mg/day in divided doses. To prevent recurrences: 500-1,500 mg/day. Oral Dietary supplement Adult: 500-1,000 mg/day. |
Warnings / Precautions |
Patients with CV diseases or elevated cholesterol levels. |
Adverse Reactions |
Rarely associated with interstitial nephritis. |
Drug Interactions |

Mechanism of Actions |
Lysine is an essential amino acid for normal growth and development. It plays an essential role in the production of carnitine, a nutrient responsible for converting fatty acids into energy, which helps to lower cholesterol. It reduces the availability of arginine in herpes virus-infected cells resulting in slower viral replication. It also helps in the absorption of calcium. |
